Someone Just Made a Giant Bet on Korean Sovereign Bonds – Bloomberg – 25/08/2017

Net foreign purchases of futures on the country’s three-year sovereign debt swelled to a record high of 29,147 contracts at the close of trade in Seoul, according to exchange figures. The buying binge, valued at around $2.8 billion, is the most in data going back to 2004.

Moody’s reaffirms Korea’s rating at Aa2, ups GDP outlook – Pulse – 06/07/2017

Global credit rating agency Moody’s Investors Service upped the growth outlook for the South Korean economy this year to 2.8 percent, reflecting the stronger-than-expected pickup in the first quarter, while reaffirming the country’s sovereign credit rating at Aa2 with a stable outlook, said the Korean Ministry of Strategy and Finance on Wednesday.

South Korea Just Announced a Major Energy Policy Move – Futurism – 07/06/2017

South Korea have announced an extreme turnaround in their climate policy: By 2030 the country (which currently gets 70 percent of its electricity from thermal and nuclear sources) plans to increase its use of natural gas from 18 percent to 27 percent, as well as increasing their renewable energy sources.

Loan issuance continues to rise amid record debt – Korea Joongang Daily – 16/05/2017
